» woorama - aborigines, macedonians
interesting.
"This is the reason why where I grew up the Macedonians and Aboriginals have got along well, we share a common pain if you will, the Aboriginal people I grew up with I consider to be good friends, even one of them went to Macedonia this year for a holiday.
I believe the Aboriginals are a proud and loyal people and it is an outright crime the way they are treated by the state in their own country. You only have to look at the population of every jail in this country to know that Aborigines make up the majority every time (50% or over).
As I've said we too are people of the sun.

Odlicno Volk,
is this an australian website?
i agree the poor aborigines in this country are treated like 2nd class citizens. the government keeps throwing money at these people just to shut them up and hope they never prosper to anything more then eating bush tucker on hot red bare sand...

Compare the Macedonians and the Aboriginals with the indigenous Malays of Malaysia. Where they HAVE to be represented in business on boards of companies and get special rights in relation to property ownership ... you realise that we are the niggers of the Balkans.

Just brought back a brillian memory...
Macedonians gathering outside the embassy in Canberra [bus loads from all over Australia] - and the good old Aboriginal tent embassy out the front the government has been trying to ignore for the past 27 years - anyway, the Aborigines joined in the demonstration - Macedonians shouting slogans of Freedom with the Aboriginal Flag right alongside the Macedonian.
What a sight !! What a memory !!
I love those guys.

Ancient History of Greeks and Macedonians cannot change. Alexander the Great and his father Philippos were proud to have same roots with Greeks.

hehehehe... which version are you talking about when you say "history"? the indigenous macedonians who still struggle for independence after their land was stolen and divided certainly have a different version. they have marched with our own people here for land rights out front of parliament house.
this is a political site ay. that's why we show different subjectivities from the dominant culture - different voices and different histories. i'm sure a gay rights activist would tell a different history about alexander the great's proclivities and motivations...
here in australia, we know all too well the genocidal effects of one group's version of "history" being superimposed over another. we live in the gaps and silences of that "history". it is our right to speak from there, to fill in the gaps and eclipse the silences. and this is a forum for that particular subjective view of history.
and bro, they're all subjective.

my daughter was watching the australian children's pop group "hi five" the other day, who were all wearing flags from their nations of origin. one had a british flag, one had phillipines, one the aboriginal flag and another had the macedonian flag - it surprised me to see that. for a "true blue aussie" group, it was interesting to see how much diversity and indigenousness they represent. the whole nation is like this really.
