And what if you didnt belong to one of the families that licences the permits?

Would you be expected to trade for use of the permit?

yeah, that's the problem with a lot of these "bothway" law agreements. makes politicians feel good, they get their picture taken, lots of good press and talk - but often they don't really take on board the community politics or ways. i'm not saying that's the case here - that's not my place to say - but often just a few families get chosen as custodians and get jacky-jacky priveledges out of it that might isolate others in the community. i;m assuming this is what you're getting at, lawman.

Thats pretty much my train of thought...mostly for other readers to think about though.

And also of interest is the way in which industry find their way around these agreements..often to the detriment of both the environment and the custodians of the land.

You may have rights, but its as long as its not an inconvenience to anyone else....if you so you find your rights are eroded massively.

i'd like to see more restrictions placed on the pillaging commercial fishermen who drag the same waters without rest. all this because the beatty govt in qld decided that native title does not extend to the waters on country.
