» koorieboy - Homosexuality amongst Our prople

Hi,
my name is Keith Ball and I am an Aboriginal gay man who works at the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations in Sydney. My work involves HIV/AIDS prevention and education for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander gay men, sistergirls and transgender people.

It's great to see that people are researching the area of homosexuality amongst my people. As a gay man who has been HIV positive for the past 16 years I think that we (Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander gay men, sistergirls, transgender and HIV positive people)are finally at a point where we can ensure that issues that affect us are put out their in the public.

When I complete my Degree in two and a half years, I plan to do research on perceptions of homosexuality and associated issues in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander society, pre and post invasion.

I'm glad that a work colleague sent me this web site, as I found it to be a valuable resource for me and it's fabulous to see that we are talking about it more.

Regards to all,

Keith Ball.

great to hear from you keith. this site is for all indigenous people - and i hope you can feel at home here. that said, i am aware that gay, lesbian, bisexual, sitergirl and transgender aborigines are extremely underepresented here - which i am aware of and have been trying to remedy.

anything that you are writing - formulating ideas about your writings around your identity, please feel free to email to me - i'd really like to publish your writing as a blog or article on this site, depending on the tone.

also, i'd like to get some more discussions going here from the indigenous gay community - hope you feel welcome here and i look forward to hearing more from you. tell your friends - get some discussion going, or even just post events or anything that's on your mind.

by the way, what people you from?
