We have similar problems in Canada with diabetes, as well as with diseases thought to be "defeated" reappearing in First Nations communities - tuberculosis, syphilis, etc. Again, while on the surface there appears to be a correlation between these illnesses and being an aboriginal person, other variables such as poverty, education, access to health care, etc. are largely ignored.-- posted by synapse2synapse
