Racist Terrorism

Religious fundamentalists threaten to attack a Canadian theatre. Evil terrorists from the Middle East? No! Good ol' home-grown racists!

When The Park Theatre in Vancouver cast a dark-skinned actor as Jesus for the first time in the 82-year history of the Passion Play, there was community outrage on such a grand scale, and of such a vicious nature, that they were forced to reconsider their casting choice.

Unbelievably, there were five tour groups that canceled their reservations overnight.

Many others decided it would be racist to cancel, and so decided instead to reschedule to a show when a white actor played Jesus. I'm not joking!

There were a number of terrorist death threats made over the phone to the theatre, and as a result schools canceled their reservations to ensure the safety of their students.

So what is the deal? Why the extreme reaction to suggestions of melanin in the skin of a North African prophet?
