Futurist's Vision Of A Non-Indigenous Monocultural Future
A fictional idea of what the future might be like if native genocide and western mono-culturalism are allowed to continue unchecked. Sobering.
In the year 2306, colonialism and Aboriginal genocide have wiped all indigenous cultures from the face of the earth. The myth of race has now been made a reality, through science.
Social class is now determined by genetically engineered physical characteristics, along with a set menu of cultural, political and religious beliefs to accompany certain physical types. This is achieved through ongoing gene therapy, coupled with cultural indoctrination. In order to make this seem a natural part of "God's plan", nature itself has been altered to reflect society's new mono-culturalism. In this way, biodiversity and cultural diversity have been destroyed side by side in this new cookie-cutter Eden.
All genetic traits in humans, animals and plants were long ago modified from the original state and patented as original "innovations" owned by a few massive corporations. In humans, certain genetic traits are more expensive than others - blonde hair, light skin and blue eyes are prohibitively expensive, and therefore reserved for the ruling class and the scientist/priest class. Brown hair, brown eyes and light skin are for merchants, businessmen, teachers etc. Yellow skin is used to denote a separate concubine and prostitute class, existing solely for the physical pleasure of the upper and middle classes.
All these people live underground or indoors, as the ozone layer is depleted and global warming is at an all-time high, and light skinned people cannot move about outside for risk of skin cancer. However, as the struggling global economy still depends on competition for increasingly scarce resources from the earth, an homogeneous dark skinned class has been genetically developed to provide cancer-resistant outdoor labour for ongoing production of food and fuel products.
The capacity for intelligence, rage and free will in this population has been genetically lowered, to ensure peaceful cooperation and to finally make a reality of the myth of subservient "races". This class is socially and genetically constructed to act as docile organic robots. They are encouraged to follow the religion of Islam, with a particular focus on the Qu'ran passage promising that on judgment day the faithful will be given white faces. They will work hard, believing that one day Allah will give them white skin and privilege if they obey.
The ruling class holds its position through ownership of these people, the land, and therefore the products they produce. Their income is dependent on this. The scientist/priest class is paid almost as well in order to maintain the genetic aberrations that have been developed to justify social divisions as "natural".
However, their most important job is to continually develop genetic resistance to the natural pathogens that arise regularly as a result of the annihilation of biodiversity. The only plants left on the planet are genetically modified foods like soy, and G.M. adaptations of mallee trees designed to store carbon for the creation of pellets to fuel power generators.
New diseases are occurring faster than the scientist/priests can develop genetic resistance treatments. The dark skinned workers are the lowest priority for these treatments, and are dying in their millions. Production efficiency is affected, and the ruling class people have begun fighting amongst themselves to maintain their share of an ever-diminishing economic pie.
It won't be long before the scientists lose the battle in protecting their genetic monocultures from the proliferation of new diseases. When that battle is lost, the last shred of the earth's biomass will disappear forever. The only winners in this battle will be the microbes. In a few million years they may begin to reorganise themselves into more complex organisms once more, but arguably they would be wise to avoid forming creatures capable of anything resembling western "progress" again.
