Read some "harmless" Aboriginal jokes that show how humour can be the Trojan Horse of racism. Read an article that is a bit of a Trojan Horse itself...

If you are here for Aboriginal jokes to tell your families and co-workers, you'll find some examples of these hurtful texts down the bottom. But first, please read the rest of the article. Have a think about what you are doing.

You Too Are Indigenous

European people were all indigenous themselves up until very recently. In fact, a large proportion of the world's indigenous people today are still living in tribal communities in Europe. Our heritages and root cultures are similar, and the myth of race has been disproven - you might think about that and read more before you scroll down to the jokes.

You can still reclaim your native heritage. Click on the link to "tribal communities in Europe" above to find out more. You can still decolonise and change your life. If this article or this site helps you, you might pass it on to others, and maybe even change things beyond yourself.

"Aboriginal Jokes" Most Popular Keyword Phrase in Topic

Australian Aboriginal People is a big topic on the web. Initially, this fact might make us proud, but from data analyses of the keyword "Aborigines", it becomes clear that the most popular searches in the topic on the internet involve the words "aboriginal jokes", "Abo jokes" or "Jokes about Aboriginals" by a factor of ten.

For example, on this site, this article attracts a minimum of several hundreds of visits on a slow week (with blogs of the same name and an article called "Aboriginal Humour" running a close second), while the next one down ("Reverse Racism") never goes above double figures. (People search that topic to reassure themselves that Anglo people are in fact the oppressed minority.) The actual article views and keyword searches about Aboriginal issues on this site are far lower. This could indicate that most of the web research done on Aboriginal people is about finding racist jokes.

Racist Jokes as a Teaching Tool

These "Abo jokes" perpetuate racist attitudes and misconceptions in the wider community, as we all know where the jokes end up - in the schoolyard, corrupting and warping young minds.

Young children learn, through humour, to accept the unacceptable. Humour is a good vehicle for this kind of brainwashing, because if it is challenged, people can always respond with, "Hey, it's only a joke". In this way, the "harmless" Aboriginal joke becomes the vehicle for the most vile cultural assumptions that form the basis for the ignorance of otherwise well-educated and informed people.

Making Irrational Beliefs Acceptable

These jokes don't have to follow logic or reason. Therefore, the dominant culture can be assured of ridiculous notions, such as the idea that Aboriginal people all have broad noses (because that's where "god held them up to paint them"). Laughingly people can accept the low social status of people whose highest aspiration is supposedly to be transformed into dog faeces, which "turns white after a few weeks".

What You Came Here For

From the site data I know that most of you who come to this page are looking for things like "Funny Abo Jokes". Here you go, knock yourself out. If you actually read the paragraphs above, perhaps you won't find these jokes so funny anymore.

Here are some of the popular racist Aboriginal jokes that are circulating on the web right now. Bear in mind that these are over ten times more popular in net searches than any other Aboriginal issues.
